This Privacy Policy explains how Trovault ("the App", "we", "us")
handles information when you use the App to scan, identify, and organize collectible items such as
coins, sports cards, watches, art, and other valuables. We have built the App to collect as little
personal data as possible.
Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password. We use this only to authenticate you and to keep your collection synced across your devices.
Photos you scan. When you photograph an item, the image is sent to our identification service to be analyzed. We do not store your photos. Images are transmitted to perform the identification and are not retained on our servers afterward.
Collection data. The results of each identification (such as item name, category, estimated year, estimated value range, rarity, and grade) are saved to your private collection so you can view it later. This data is linked to your account.
What We Do Not Collect
We do not store the photographs you take.
We do not collect your contacts, precise location, or browsing history.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
We do not use your data for advertising.
How Your Information Is Used
To create and secure your account.
To identify the items you photograph and return an estimated description and value.
To store and display your personal collection.
To operate, maintain, and improve the App.
Third-Party Services
To provide core features, the App relies on the following service providers, who process data only on our behalf:
Google (Gemini API). Photos you scan are sent to Google's Gemini image-analysis service to identify the item. Your use is subject to Google's privacy practices. We send only the image and an identification prompt — no account details.
eBay (Browse API). To estimate an item's market value, the name of the identified item (text only) is sent to eBay to retrieve current public listing prices. No account details, photos, or personal data are sent to eBay, and we do not store any eBay data.
Supabase. Provides authentication and the secure database that stores your account and collection data.
Railway. Hosts the server that relays scan and pricing requests to the identification and market-value services.
Camera and Photo Permissions
The App requests access to your camera and photo library solely so you can capture or select an image
of an item to identify. These permissions are used only when you actively choose to scan an item. You
can revoke them at any time in your device settings.
Data Retention & Deletion
Your account and collection data are kept until you ask us to delete them. You can request deletion of
your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us at the address below. Scanned photos are
not retained, so there is nothing to delete on that front.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and passwords are stored only in hashed form by
our authentication provider. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take
reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from
children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so
we can remove it.
Estimated Values Disclaimer
Item identifications and estimated values are generated automatically and are provided for informational
purposes only. They are estimates and may be inaccurate. They are not appraisals or financial advice, and
should not be relied upon for buying, selling, or insurance decisions.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at
the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the
revised policy.
